Dental Implants

Dental implants as replacements for missing teeth are making our patients very happy. Finally, there is a tooth replacement that looks and feels like the real thing. There’s no special care needed for a dental implant, and it can be designed and colored to match your natural teeth exactly.

  • How Does a Dental Implant Work?

The first step is placing a slender titanium post in the jaw to act as the root of the replacement tooth. This post will be allowed to firmly bond with the bone for a few months. At the end of this period, a small healing cap will be fit to the titanium implant. At this point, your dentist can take an impression of this part of your mouth so the replacement tooth can be manufactured.

When the durable replacement tooth has been made, it will be securely attached to the implant. At that point, you are ready to resume life with a full set of functional, natural-looking teeth. No special at-home care is needed for a dental implant—you just brush and floss as you would your natural teeth.

  • Implant-Supported Dentures

Dental implants can be used to secure dentures, too. This can mean a whole new life for a denture wearer. No longer does he or she need to worry about their dentures slipping. No longer will there be any restrictions on the types of foods that can be eaten.

If you are missing teeth and are interested in this beneficial tooth replacement option, or would like to find out how your dentures can be secured onto dental implants, please call the Drs. Silman’s Smile Spas office nearest you.

Case Study | 42 Year Old Male Patient - Liam

He came into the office with missing front teeth and severe crowding. We decided to straighten his teeth first using Invisalign. The whole process took about 19 months. After his teeth were straight, he had two implants placed in the area of teeth #6 and 7. After of 5 months of implant healing, we restored all of his upper anterior teeth with porcelain crowns.
